The Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs visited Ross Thomson's constituency of Aberdeen South.
Ross said, "At a time with so much happening in global politics it was a real delight for me to welcome the Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt to Aberdeen South. From Britain’s role in the world to the rise of China and from conflict in the Middle East to Russia we had a fascinating evening."
The Secretary of State spoke to those from the oil and gas industry to help with a vital aspect of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office's work overseas to promote UK business alongside the Department for International Trade.
Today in Aberdeen the Secretary of state heard from business leaders how the Foreign and Commonwealth Office can do more to help. The oil and gas sector alone supports almost 300,000 jobs with more than a third of those being in Scotland.
Ross said, "It was great to welcome Jeremy Hunt to Aberdeen. We all know that our oil and gas industry in particular operates on a global stage. There are significant opportunities to grow our exports after Brexit. The Foreign Secretary is working hard to make sure we seize those opportunities."
